Letting employees edit custom data fields

Did you know that your employees can now edit the content of certain custom fields directly?

Since day one, we have had custom data fields in HR Partner, which allow you to store additional information about your employees outside of the core HR fields that we have built into the system.

Up until now, only admin users could update the information in these custom fields.  We actually introduced a way for employees to update these via our Custom Forms module, but this was a little tricky to set up for most users.

So now we have given you the ability to nominate certain custom fields as being 'editable by the employee' when setting them up.  Any fields with the following button ticked will allow employees to update the field contents at any time via their ESS portal.

Employees can go to the 'My Profile' section on their self service portal, where they will see the custom field(s) just under their contact and profile photo section.

Of course, if you set up ESS Portal notifications for any changes made by your employees, then any changes to these custom fields will trigger an email to you.
